World War II
with oversized aviator's leather strap

A rare WWII pilot's wristwatch, one of only few manufactured and assembled by Lange & Söhne. During the war, Lange & Söhne could not cover the need for deck watches itself and had movements and cases assembled and finished by other watchmakers. Deck watches that were assembled by other watchmakers, the name of the other German reassembler is engraved on the inside of the cover, for example: Wempe Hamburg, Huber Munich, Felsing Berlin etc. The offered deck watch is in a recognizable appealing condition: the dial is in unbelievably great condition, the case has partially preserved zapon varnish and allows one to admire the original condition. The case has the original glass, the original, extra-long leather strap with a beautiful patina and signs of wear is mounted on its lugs. The movement cal. 48.1 with a stop center second device works properly.
